Controversial remarks by the Democratic Party (DP) secretary general Gerald Blacks Siranda chanting support for his boss Nobert Mao’s contender in the speakership race Anita Among have backlashed against him, prompting explosive retaliatory response from several party members who branded him a traitor.

The said utterances were recently made from Buyende in Busoga sub region at a funeral ceremony that saw several political and non-political figures in attendance including among others; the incumbent speaker Among with some of her pro incoming and reelected MPS.

In her vote of thanks to the mourners posted on her X handle, speaker Among stated” our heartfelt thanks go out to our Parliamentary family, friends and all the wonderful people who gathered with us at home in Buyende to say goodbye to mama Nulu (Tibiita Nakisuyi). Your love and support during such a challenging time truly touched our hearts, and we are deeply grateful. May God bless you all abundantly”.

Addressing mourners, Siranda whose left hand was seen on a crutch support, disclaimed that he had not been bought to switch his time long allegiance from his senior party leader Mao to Among. “For me I am a member of parliament representing Uganda to the East African parliament basically because my mother honorable Anita Among allowed, and as a secretary general of DP.”

Siranda’s remarks that were being translated by the Bukhooli North MP Solomon Silwanyi in Lusoga language, sparked rounds of applause and laughers from his in organic audience as he cemented heap of his praises on an incumbent speaker who is fighting to retain her seat.

“For me, I am not here as an MP, I am at home because the right honorable speaker is my mother, and the world knows that you’re my mother, my party leadership knows that you’re my mother. They have written that you paid me that’s why I had not said I support a particular candidate, but I said she is my mother, you made me I must appreciate”.

Draped in an army green Kaunda caftan with grey and white colored sneakers, the DP EALA sponsored representative ruled out the prevailing rivalry between Mao and Among, insinuating they are in cordial relations. “And there is no war between my leader honorable Nobert Mao and the speaker because I have seen every time I want to get something I even call honorable Nobert Mao that I failed to get my mother, can you call her for me and is the one saying, call. I don’t know how many times you have been there in every aspect of life, and for me the right honorable speaker is the speaker and she is going to be the speaker”. He emphasized.

    Siranda Named a Traitor.

What Blazer News Times exclusively gather from the DP members who spoke on condition of anonymity is that, Siranda had started his day from Mao’s home where he had gone seeking financial assistance from his party boss to help him navigate his current financial hardships.

According to the party members, Siranda had cried out to Mao that he had patients that needed an urgent medical intervention yet he was broke, prompting the Laroo Pece MP elect to extend a magnanimous monetary intervention of 6 million shillings to his said predicament.

It has emerged from insiders that the DP secretary general had first been served tea with his boss while seated around the same table, before he could leave for Buyende meeting.

DP members accused Siranda of being treacherous, dishonest, forgetful and un grateful, to Mao whom they say facilitated his meteoric rise in the party leadership ranks yet he had just defected from the UPC.

They have also accused him of being a double legged player only motivated by the financial gains as opposed to the principle.

Reminiscing about his sudden rise in the Uganda’s oldest party ranks, one DP member remembered how Mao supported him to become the UYD leader, DP deputy secretary general to now his current secretary generalship office, following the death of late Mathias Birekerawo Nsubuga who was in its occupation.

Some have likened him to the biblical Judas Iscariot who forfeited his Master Jesus Christ for his selfish monetary gains. They said that their priority at the moment is to ensure that Mao wins the speakership seat, before insisting that Siranda’s diversions will be treated as secondary.
