The fallen Uganda National Boxing team player late Isaac Zebra Ssenyange commonly known as Mando is back in the news following a strange revelation by the NUP president Bobi Wine that he was furnishing him with information, despite his earlier defection to the Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s NRM party camp.

Mando, initially a loyal supporter of Bobi Wine which later shifted to president Museveni, was gunned down on 30th December 2020 ahead of the January 14, 2021 elections, under un clear circumstances.

The official statement by the Kampala metropolitan region deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire claimed that he had been murdered by un known assailants who had picked him from his home in Bwaise 3 St Francis Zone. However, Mando’s son Zebra Junior had earlier announced in a Facebook post on his father’s wall that he had been gunned down by the military operatives.

This later prompted president Museveni to address the nation condemning the act, before he could fault the security operatives for eliminating him. The president had committed to aid his NRM party cadre’s bereaved family.

Before his controversial death, he was helping the ruling party to transform the ghetto youth into productive activities.

But in what has turned out as a surprise to many people is Bobi Wine disclosing that, late Mando was his informer even when he had long time publicly shifted his allegiance to the party.

Bobi Wine who was addressing a mammoth crowd of his supporters in Kawempe south during his presidential campaign on Monday described Mando as his longtime friend with several aspects they shared in common.

Wine revealed that the information he continually received from him even when he had left people power reflected their friendship.

Making all those revelations, he was issuing a stern warning to the cheering ghetto youths against what he called not making a mistake of accepting to be used by the NRM regime like Mando.

He boasted that he was the only ghetto president who understood their plight other than Gen. Museveni who just learnt of their community after his emergence in politics.

Bobi Wines’s utterances comes at the backdrop of huge resources by NRM government to various ghetto youth initiatives, aimed at transforming from poverty.

Through NRM ghetto initiatives, some youth have been able to start up their wealth creation ventures.
