The three-time contender for parliamentary seats in Kampala city Hajjat Faridah Nambi Kigongo popularly known as Faridah Nambi (NRM), is now destined for an Ambassadorial job, Blazer News Times can exclusively report.

This is after her tripartite attempt aimed at becoming an MP for Kawempe North constituency twice; in March Thursday,13, 2025, January, Thursday 15, 2026, and Kampala District as Kampala District Woman MP once, in January, 2021 respectively, which did not come to fruition.

Insiders in NRM government told this news Website that , the party chairman also the head of state president Yoweri Museveni is set to appoint Hajjat Nambi an Ambassador during his next government appointments, although they could not specify her final ambassadorial destination.

According to the highly placed sources, the president’s decision regarding Nambi’s job was sparked by his father’s (Hajji Moses Kigongo- 2nd NRM vice national chairman) internal discontent, on premise that she should have been in the 12th parliament, having taken into an account several attempts that have been made by Nambi.

Reliable sources however indicated that, the NRM party chairman wants his party leaders to account for the several party members that did not turn up to vote for him in the just concluded elections, yet they reflect in the party’s register you can call it yellow book.

The NRM party secretariat had in December 2026 confirmed that 7.6 million were the new party members of the 19 million members captured in the yellow book. It had Initially claimed having 20 million members, a figure that is slightly lower than the 21 million overall voters captured in the national voter’s register by the Uganda Electoral Commission (EC).

Final EC declared results put president Museveni at 7,944,772 million votes win, representing 71.65%, which has since then left him informing the country during some of his post-election addresses, that had all his voters as per the NRM yellow book turned up on the polling day, there would not be opposition in Uganda by now.

When faced off with Nalukoola (NUP) in the March by election, Nambi was declared 2nd with 8,593 votes against 17,764 votes by her main contender. The by election that followed the death of an area MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, is said to have been one of the most violent in the Ugandan electoral history, considering the violence meted out on the journalists and opposition supporters.

The April 2025 interim report by the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) shows that more than 30 journalists had faced targeted attacks in form of direct assault by the security forces, detentions and arrest, confiscation and vandalism of the work tools such as cameras and other live broadcasting equipment, intimidation, etc. This sparked concerns of the human rights violations among several international and local human rights watchdog agencies such as the Uganda Human Rights Commission and the EU.

It had also triggered a media black out on security activities by the media advocating bodies led by the UJA, in protest of the widely condemned human rights violations.

During her January 15,2026 general election 3rd attempt, Nambi was declared 2nd runners up with 8,930 votes by the EC Kampala District Returning Officer Rashid Hasakya, while Nalukoola the winner with 34,985 votes.

Drama ensued as Hasakya fled the Kololo tally center from Nambi supporters who had aimed at him with physical attack shortly after his declaration, with Nambi seen around brandishing a document contain her purported victory results.  Hasakya had fled with Nalukoola’s final DR form, but only to return back when calm had been restored.

In 2021 Kampala District Woman MP race, the NRM strongwoman had contested against among other candidates; Sumayiyah Muwonge (DP) and Shamim Malende (NUP), but lost to Malende who was reelected for her 2nd term in 2026 polls.

Our efforts to seek a comment from Nambi were fruitless as she could not pick our frantic phone calls. By the time this news report was compiled, she had not returned the calls.

Whether Nambi will accept taking up the proposed job or not, only time can tell.
