Senior presidential advisor on industry and Mawokota North National Resistance Movement (NRM) party parliamentary flag bearer in 2026 elections Annie Amelia Kyambadde has urged her fellow party cadres to embrace what she has called political reality, considering the new dynamics in the Ugandan elective political landscape.
Kyambadde who was recently addressing a team of her campaign supporters in the constituency noted that, the landscape has changed significantly to the point of facing rejection from the voters. “Where things have reached, we no longer make sense to the voters. When you go to people every one looks at you as an ATM”.
According to Kyambadde, the youth play a vital role in the current Ugandan politics yet have been left aside, which has complicated the ground for them. “You’re here chest thumping that you are going to win an election, how, when the youth have been left aside”, Kyambadde questioned.
She explained that a few youths who come to them are driven by monetary gains, challenging her party cadres to accept that change has come, considering that the village youth wants their fellow youth.
The former Trade Minister who represented the constituency for more than 10 years and lost it to the NUP ‘s incumbent MP Hillary Kiyaga a.k.a Dr. Hilderman, observed a growing pattern of political deception and pretense among her fellow NRM party cadres, which has implications to the party politics.
“I love NRM party a lot 100% but don’t like deception. I hate pretenders. My grandparent taught me that my daughter what you feel on your heart speak it.”
Kyambadde noted that she did not want to become a victim of change again like in last election, saying she was elderly enough with children and grandchildren to be deceived by mobilizers.
“Personally, I am tired and seeing some of you equally tired, where will you seek for me votes from” She asked supporters amidst cheers and laughter from them.
Kyambadde who is known for speaking her mind stated that time had come for the NRM party members to carry out a realistic assessment, before emphasizing that people want change.
“People think I will become a tap financially, let me now closed it”.
Four candidates are vying for the Mawokota North parliamentary seat, but the main competition is between NRMs’ Kyambadde and NUP’s Hilderman.
