Blazer News Times ReporterBy Blazer News Times ReporterJanuary 12, 2026

Some of the civil servants do not have the government vehicle that have been under their use, following a decision by the government to have them withdrawn from them with sort time to the January 15 polls.

This has been confirmed to this News Website by one of the high-profile civil servants on condition of anonymity since is not authorized to speak to the media.

According to this civil, his vehicle (names and registration number plates withheld) was withdrawn from him at the beginning of this month upon receiving a notice from his line supervisor that it was urgently needed to be deployed for the January 15 electoral activities.

The civil servant exclusively told Blazer News Times that Friday 9th January was the deadline set for civil servants to surrender the government vehicles in their possession or face penalties.

Judiciary is one of the government institutions with staff that have been affected by the said directive.

Asked why their withdrawn vehicles directed to the electoral activities considering the fact that the national Electoral Commission (EC) was heavily and adequately facilitated to manage the 2026 elections, he explained that they were told that there were no enough government resources to cater for the vehicles.

Parliamentary records show that a tune of more than 800 billion shillings would be spent on the 2026 electoral activities.

The civil servant said the withdrawal of the vehicle from him imposed some transport inconvenience to him.

However, the government Media Center Obed Katureebe in response told Blazer News Times that it is not true that all government vehicles were withdrawn from civil servants.

According to Katureebe, government was mobilizing pickup trucks only from the ministry departments and agencies to support EC in the transportation and delivery of ballot papers and other voting materials to various polling stations across the country.

The presidential and parliamentary elections will be conducted on Thursday 15 January while polling for the local government positions from 22nd January to February.
