    Exclusive: Inside the State House Meeting that Culminated into Anita Among Withdrawal from the Speakership Race.

    Outgoing speaker of the Ugandan parliament Annet Anita Among’s ambition aimed at maintaining her grip at the helm of the 3rd top office of the three organs constituting the government is no more, following an agreement reached upon with her ruling NRM party chairman also the head of state president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, thus withdrawing from the contentious race.

    Highly placed sources close to the state power exclusively told Blazer News Times that the said consensus was forged during the State House Entebbe meeting held over the weekend.

    It is said by the reliable sources that Anita Among who has been under the state arrest for several days since her swearing in event as the Bukedea District Woman MP, was driven to the State House where she met with the president who allegedly informed her that his teams had furnished him with incriminating evidence pinning her over the allegations of corruption related actions and illegal enrichment.

    Although Among according to the insiders admitted to have accumulated wealth, denied allegations of financial accumulation from undisclosed sources, insisting that no such funds have ever been recovered from her residence as it is being circulated on different socials.

    The 2nd NRM Party National Chairperson (Women) Nakasero residence in the Ugandan capital, was raided by the security forces on Saturday afternoon in a joint operation including the police and military mounted with house searches and restrictions against its usual access to her allies, aimed at gathering evidence to aid in the ongoing state investigation to facilitate prosecution.

    Sources say that it was after this that the reports circulated across different socials insinuating how billions of cash in dollar and shillings currency were recovered from her multibillion property chambers, creating more tensions among the citizenry.

    Sources further told this news website that it was at that point an agreement was reached, culminating into Among ‘s declaration affirming her immediate withdrawal from the speakership race, that in the interest of calming down the perceived heightened tensions and maintaining national stability.

    It is the reason that she took to her X handle formerly twitter in the Sunday night, officially communicating the position to the public, thus exiting the contentious race that had attracted seven aspirants altogether.

    The seven include among other, Nobert Mao, Persis Namuganza, Lydia Wanyoto and Jacob Oboth Obo who joined the race a few days ago, following Among’s fall out with Museveni.

    The Sunday meeting came after the earlier one in which Among had been given options; withdrawal pending re deployment consideration, or face jail. Sources say that Among had been directed not to leave her Kampala home, not to drive out of Kampala, avoid any public appearances and suspend any meetings with newly sworn-in MPs of the 12th Parliament, until new Speaker and Deputy Speaker have been elected come Monday, 25th May, 2026.

    RE: SPEAKERSHIP RACE

    I wish to draw the attention of the public to the matters regarding the Speakership race.

    After wide consultations and deep introspection, and to maintain harmony and clarity in my beloved party, the @NRMOnline, I wish to categorically and unequivocally state that I will not be offering myself for the Speakership race of the 12th Parliament.

    I am greatly indebted to H.E @KagutaMuseveni, my party, the @NRMOnline, and members of the 11th Parliament for giving me the opportunity to serve as Deputy Speaker and Speaker.

    I am equally indebted to my family and friends for the solidarity and support they have extended to me over the last five years.

    I pledge my total support to the candidates who will be endorsed by the President and the Party, and Implore all colleague MPs of the 12th Parliament to do the same.

    I shall remain available to the service of my country as the party and the President may assign me.

    In the meantime, I pledge to continue cooperating with all ongoing investigations as initiated by the relevant organs of the state to get to the root of all the allegations raised.
