Is it Animal Farm Politics at Play: Has Gen. Muhoozi, Minister Baryomunsi War Left NRM Government Stripped?

The raging verbal war between Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Information-National Guidance Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi has exposed the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government into the state of Animal Farm politics where hierarchy seem to be having either less or a lip service consideration.

The author George Orwell partly tries to show in his book titled the Animal Farm how the rules were instituted upon agreement by the Animals to foster and steer forward the farm good management practices, following its takeover from the original owner.

One of the set rules that had to bind on every stakeholder was that “all Animals are equal”. However, as time rolled, some Animals started claiming to be more equal than others, which eventually poised serious effect on the farm establishment.

Relatedly, the war between the two senior leaders in the ruling NRM government has sparked the public mixed reactions with some relating it to the play of Animal Farm like politics as they throw support behind Minister Baryomunsi, while others behind Gen. Muhoozi.

To those behind Baryomunsi, government hierarchies and all the set rules in their current form must work, whereas the Muhoozi backers seem to be holding a different view.

The Information and National Guidance Minister through an executive policy and government communication strategy is an official government spokesperson, a role aimed at ensuring consistent messaging, according to some government officials.

Has the Gen. Muhoozi, Minister Baryomunsi War left the NRM Government Stripped?

Some political observers argue that the sharp disagreement between the two leaders shows that without president Museveni as a unifying factor, several NRM government players may not hold together, resulting into its collapse.

The former National Resistance Army (NRA) combatant which paved way to the NRM government through an armed struggle Mzee Hajj Abdul Nadduli noted in an exclusive interview with this news Website, that the feud between the two leaders has nothing to do with an NRM establishment, saying it is personal.

Hajj Nadduli however, observed that it is only president Museveni as the head of state and commander in chief of armed force’s intervention that can salvage the situation.

“The father should caution the son that while in the military combat should not issue political statements, remind him that he was put in the docket of the military not politics as per the law”. The presidential advisor on Buganda Affairs advised.

Escalation of the Muhoozi, Baryomunsi Dispute.

The sharp dispute which has been in concealment from the public for quite long, escalated when Gen. Muhoozi also president Yoweri Museveni’s son posted via his X platform formerly Twitter earlier on Wednesday 4th, February, that” Baryomunsi the traitor, will never be a Minister again”, which promptly provoked a bitter response from Minister Baryomunsi.

“I rose from obscurity to where I am because of my abilities not favors from anybody. Am self-made. Being a Minister is not necessarily the best thing in life. My horizon if far beyond that. Let’s serve Uganda. Cheers”. Baryomunsi bitterly replied.

Gen. Muhoozi maintained the fight as Baryomunsi would be dropped from his current docket as Information and National Guidance Minister should he not change his mindset.” It doesn’t matter. You will not be Minister this time. First come and make peace with me”. Muhoozi insisted.

Baryomunsi, courageously and bravery sounding, replied to Muhoozi that “My father trained me to believe in myself. He restrained me from taking alcohol. Am sober 24/7 and focused. He let me free and I don’t suffer from Peter Pan Syndrome. Those attacking me on Twitter/X don’t know the material, we the original Bakiga are made of. Go slow” He warned.

    Genesis of the Dispute.

Disagreement between the dual started after Baryomunsi who was appearing on the Saturday January, 31 Capital Gang talk show on Capital FM Radio, publicly decried what he called the contradictory tweets by the CDF, stemming from the circumstances surrounding the NUP president Bobi Wine’s abandonment of his home since the January 15,2026 elections, coupled with the continued heavy presence of the security forces there.

He had been tasked to explain what was the government’s position regarding the Bobi Wine versus the security force’s seemingly un answered question under which he was quoted by the by the media assuring the world that the former opposition presidential candidate is not a wanted person by the government, contrary to the information contained in several Gen. Muhoozi’s posts via his X formerly twitter space, that they are looking for him dead or alive.

“I have discussed this issue with appointing authority-the president, and admittedly, his tweets make my work a little bit difficult because of contradictions” Baryomunsi said.

However, shortly after, it emerged from one of the pro Muhoozi supporters the Kasambya county MP Daud Kabanda that his responses had not been of any welcome by their team.

In a lengthy explosive posted X message, Kabanda chided Baryomunsi as an opportunist who came to the government for political survival, saying he had no moral authority to despise their PLU boss General Muhoozi.

Where the battle between the two senior government leaders will end no one knows.
