Exclusive: MP Ssebamala Cited in the Government Hospital Generator Supply Deal Scandal.

Blazer News Times ReporterBy Blazer News Times ReporterJuly 20, 2026

The Bukoto Central MP Eng. Richard Ssebamala is under the spotlight over allegations of involvement into the scandal concerning the government hospital generator supply deal, which has raised integrity concerns among a section of stake holders including his fellow DP members.

It is alleged by the sources that the said deal which culminated into fleecing one Kenyan investor 4 million USD, had been engineered through parliament.

According to the sources, Engineer Ssebamala allegedly gave an assurance to an investor that they would help him to influence the parliament procurement process to pave for him a way of winning the deal of supplying his generators to all government hospitals, hence luring him into the deal.

However, the said deal never came to fruition according to the sources as it eventually turned out to be tainted with concerns of a scum.

It has emerged from sources that influencing the procurement of the said generator supply never materialized given that it was not directly within the parliament scope.

The said scum according to the sources, played out before the July 2025 DP National Delegates Conference (NDC) that attracted Eng. Ssebamala’s aborted candidature for party presidency against the incumbent Nobert Mao, before he could be discarded for failing to meet the required qualifications.

Sources allege that the Bukoto Central MP was seriously left bruised by the said incident to the extent of seeing some of his associates (names withheld), jailed, although later on released on bail.

However, our efforts to obtain a comment from Ssebamala were fruitless as he could neither pick nor return our phone calls by the time this news report was compiled. He had equally not replied to our WhatsApp messages that were sent to him.

Sources claim that the DP holding ticket Buganda region MP was one of the former speaker Anita Among’s political allies whom they claimed to have supported him financially during the hotly contested DP internal party elections.

Earlier this month, several media reports quoted Ssebamala publicly welcoming the proposed amendment into the Administration of Parliament Act by the Buyaga West MP Denis Namara (NRM and PLU leaning), whose motivation to the political observers is his selfish interests.

According Ssebamala, the current arrangement gives NUP excessive control over an office funded by the tax payers.

The Namara Parliament Bill 2026, seeks to change the mode of choosing the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP) which under the current law falls within the mandate of an opposition party with the majority MPS, to an election by MPS from all opposition parties and independents.

The scum generator supply deal allegations gained intensity amidst the ongoing anti-corruption crackdown on several public officials.
