File: President Museveni after His Meeting with Opposition MPS from Acholi at State House Entebbe

Peoples Front for Freedom (PFF) party top leadership is facing internal contradictions arising from the concerns of abandonment of the party by several individuals that were entrusted with various roles including the only two Members of Parliament (MPS) who were declared winners on the party ticket in the January 15,2026 elections.

The two current MPS include; Asinansi Nyakato -Hoima City, and Betty Acan Aol- Gulu City Woman MP.

Insiders who exclusively spoke to Blazer News Times on condition of anonymity confirmed that since the disputed January 15, 2026, the MPS have not been seen around participating into party activities, hence an abandonment of the party.

Notable among activities is the internal and external meetings, press conferences and numerous Court sessions involving the PFF’s jailed patron Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his associate Hajj Obeid Lutale, that have time and again been frequented by several party leaders, supporters and well-wishers.

The party’s abandonment by the said parliamentary representatives has created a path for lacking a clear direction and heightened panic within the party leadership hierarchy, thus adversely negatively impacting its aspirations.

Sources familiar with matters of the newest PFF party in Uganda revealed that the party had also been abandoned by other senior leaders who have since then given up on its activities. These include among others, former Rukungiri Municipality MP Roland Kaginda Mugume, Naboth Namanya, Dr. Nicholas Kamara and Michael Kabaziguruka.

Naboth Namanya represented Rubaabo County-Rukungiri in the 11th parliament on FDC ticket which he defected for the PFF one year to the 2026 elections, claiming that the Najjanankumbi based party had faced the set back of mismanagement and dwindling political support. Namanya (PFF flag bearer) had faced off with Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabugumi (NRM) who was declared the winner with 16,102 votes against his 14,780 votes.

Like Namanya, Dr. Kamara represented Kabale Municipality in Kigezi sub region on FDC ticket before he crossed to the PFF. Andrew Aja Baryayanga (NRM) was declared the winner by the Uganda Electoral against Kamara during the 2026 election. Kabaziguruka had lost to Fred Ruhindi (NRM) in Nakawa East who was declared the winner, while Mugume represented Rukungiri Municipality in the 10th parliament.

Why MPS Abandoned PFF Kiiza Besigye Party.

Sources allege that the two MPS’ loyalty to the PFF party administration scaled down arising from hustles they went through to be declared 2026 election winners which was marred by the claims of rigging, falsification of results by the Returning Officers, ballot stuffing with pre-ticked papers, military violence, bribery, etc.

According to the sources, the two MPS (Nyakato and Aol) had negotiated their way through, considering several cases of irregularities that had played out during the chaotic campaigns, despite their incumbency advantages.

With Nyakato, sources allege that she was saved from a well-orchestrated rig out plot of her victory by the ruling NRM party big shots; former speaker Anita Among, Moses Byaruhanga the senior presidential advisor on media affairs and former state minister for gender and child affairs Balaam Barugahara.

Sources further allege that when the NRM party chairman also the head of state Gen. Yoweri Kaguta met with opposition MPS from Northern Uganda under the Acholi Parliamentary Caucus on 13th March 2025, Aol requested Museveni to help her retain her parliamentary seat come January 15,2026 election because she did not have any problem with him, which later on paid off.

During the meeting that was held at state house Entebbe, the president and Acholi MPS agreed to set aside their political differences and work together to realize the socio-economic transformation

Sources claim that with such background, the Katonga road-based party MPS can hardly advance the party agenda.

Only time can tell how the party can navigate the prevailing political turbulence.
